MIAMI ART
This is the first painting that connected the reality of war, of life as a wounded soldier, to Chisin’s artistic work.
Yoram Chisin is a self-taught artist whose practice translates personal traumas, both physical and psychological, from his military past
into works of art.
Chisin’s bold use of colour is not simply an aesthetic gesture, but rather
a tool used to access layers of memory. Painting is a form of therapy for him, whereby brushstrokes on canvas, additions, subtractions, engraving and layering represent a combat medic’s attention to a wounded soldier’s injury,
its treatment, dressing and healing.
